Elements of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course 

  • 8 Weekly Experiental Sessions that help you to establish focused awareness and embed regular mindfulness practices in your daily life. These sessions include insight dialogue, short video presentations and home assignments to practise in daily life.
  • A retreat day where you will have an opportunity to enter into a long period of stillness and silence and nourish your soul in a beauitful environment
  • Four guided meditation CD'S
  • A certificate of completion
  • Invitation to participate in ongoing Community Mindfulness Sessions.

There are times in our lives when we experience more stress than we feel we can bear. It can show up out of the blue as uncomfortable physical sensations, intense emotions and unstable moods. Indeed after a turbulent 2017 many people today are feeling a bit world weary and worn out. All around us it seems as if there is nothing but upheaval, uncertainty and stress.

 

The good news is that in the middle of chaos we can find a calm still point at the core of our own being. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) makes it possible for us to re-connect with our selves and be able to access a life of peace, purpose and fulfilment regardless of the external conditions and circumstances.

 

This 8 week course, led by Maria Garvey is specifically designed for people who feel that their lives are in some way hampered or limited by stress. It is an in-depth, focused programme that offers people new ways of handling anxiety and stress and all that comes with it. It

can significantly change the way we relate to our work, our relationships and ourselves. By focusing our attention and developing our awareness we learn to deal more effectively with difficulties and take more pleasure in life again.

 

'Mindfulness' is a way of paying attention, on purpose and non-judgmentally, to what goes on in the present moment in your body, mind and the world around you. Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in the USA developed MBSR. It is taught in a supportive group environment

Maria Garvey has been engaged in the work of transformation and human resilience in many different contexts. She has designed and delivered training, retreats, and workshops to individuals, organisations, and community groups both nationally and internationally. Maria is an experienced mindfulness practioner and teacher.
